King’s Preparatory School

Administration Building and Hall Extension

Client

The King’s School

Scope

This project was a combination of three buildings. A new administration building, the refurbishment and extension of the existing school hall and the construction of new staff rooms. The complex design linked the existing school buildings to new structures in order to maximise the space, while minimising construction costs.

The new buildings are located at the turning circle of the Prep School and have created an impressive entrance for students, staff and parents. The project has provided a facelift for the school and will be a feature for years to come. Main features of the detailed design include slate roof tiles, hardwood timbers and sandstone columns.

Awards

A staged handover enabled staff to move into their new administration building within a short period to provide minimum disruption during construction. The site team worked within a functioning school and within limited space, while still limiting impact to the staff and students.
