Paediatric Intensive Care Unit
Client
Hunter New England Health
Scope
This new three storey building provides a paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) for John Hunter Hospital.
The new building adjoins the existing hospital with suspended link walkways. The project was constructed at the busy front entry to the hospital over the existing trauma path. Careful construction planning was required to avoid disruptions to the hospital and its users.
The new building involved new specialist paediatric rooms, terrace area and administration facilities. The project also involved refurbishment to areas of the live existing intensive care unit within the John Hunter Hospital main building.
